Last night my roommate Leah got a call that Feelgoods would be having a band play. So we got ready quickly and headed out. Feelgoods is owned by Danny "The Count" Koker & lead singer for Motley Crue Vince Neil. I had only seen the place in the daylight so I wonder how the vibe would be at night. Would Feelgoods hold up to the much anticipated hype?
When you walk into Feelgoods the first thing that hits you is the mural of ZZ Top's ELIMINATOR album. When you step inside there are more murals all done by artist Mike Henry who works at Count Customs for Danny. It must have been nice for Mike to have some room to work with instead of doing a motorcycle gas tank. Besides the murals there is some impressive rock & roll memorabilia including a wonderful "Dimebag" Darrell display. So far I was thrilled about this place but would it sound good. We would find out as soon as the band took the stage.
The band that took the stage included Slaughters bassist Pete and guitarist Jeff Blando. Jeff is also Feelgoods entertainment director. Last but not least was Vince Neils drummer Zoltan Chaney. This would be the first test of the equipment is front of a live audience. They got off and running with "ARE YOU READY" with Blando singing. Jeff did a very good job on Soundgardens "OUTSHINED" while Zoltan was doing every trick in his book. Blando showed off his ample guitar skills on Ted Nugents "STRANGLEHOLD". Black Sabbaths "PARANOID" was next and segued into Queens "WE WILL ROCK YOU" which was soon turned into pure heavy metal by these three men.
The Who's "BABA O'RILEY" gave drummer Chaney to pound his skins hard and also sing the Pete Townsend part. A little tease of Wild Cherry's "PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC WHITE BOY" was fun. The band ended their blistering set with a Led Zeppelin medley. This medley included "WHOLE LOTTA LOVE", "GOOD TIMES, BAD TIMES" and the hard rocking end of "STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN". I was very impressed by these guys and couldn't wait for the second set.
The band got the second set going with "STAY WITH ME" from the Faces. Drummer Zoltan took a break as Timbo got behind the kit for a little "FOLSUM PRISON BLUES" tease. That lead into an inspired version of "HEAVEN & HELL" from the band with the same name. Timbo departed as the guys did "BLURRY" by Puddle of Mudd. Peter Framptons "DO YOU FEEL LIKE I DO" was great with Blando now adding the Golden throat to his already heavy work load. Chaney had plenty of time to go wild on this song including licking his drum stick without missing a beat. Vine Neils son took the stage to sing LIVE WIRE" to finish up this fun night.
Good food and drinks at reasonable prices. Now with some good Rock & Roll and Feelgoods just might be the best new club since Pink E's to hang out.
We'd like to thank Danny Koker for all his help.

Masterplan News UPDATE: July 17 2009 Jorn talks Masterplan new album: "These are not just rumours." In an interview held on 1st June 2009 for the German Rock Hard magazine, Jorn - according to his own words - will be the singer on the next Masterplan album. "These are not just rumours," says the former Masterplan frontman. "The truth is, that we've discussed the recording of a new album and that I've got some songs that I wrote for Masterplan a few years ago. It looks good, it's going to work. We always used to get along well, but from the professional point of view, we decided to go separate ways in the past. Now I'm gonna focus on promoting my new solo album, I'm gonna play some more gigs etc. and after, we will decide how and when we'll start producing the new Masterplan album, we'll also see what the reaction of fans will be. There'll be another Masterplan CD but regarding a further cooperation nothing has yet been decided." "I think it's good that we've started working together again," adds Jorn, "mostly because of the fact that Masterplan's music with me on vocals is being considered something special."

We just received word that due to the time commitments involved with the Stratovarious tour, Pagan’s Mind will not be arriving to Atlanta until Friday afternoon.
The acoustic Pagan’s Maximus show has been changed as a result. Circus Maximus will now play a full electric set consisting of cover tunes and Circus Maximus songs that will NOT be performed on the main stage on Saturday.
Both Pagan’s Mind and ProgPower USA apologize for the change in plans.
( I was really excited over this and and bummed it wont happen....bah! )
